Linda Newell

Senator Linda Newell District 26

We’re in the second half of the legislative session and although very difficult, we’ve had some major successes. We’ve balanced the budget and now have an economic forecast showing we are moving out of the recession. However, it will still take time to recover and some of you may continue to feel it for awhile. We are working very hard to stimulate job growth and protect essential services.
This year in my own legislation, I'm working on protecting our children, families and economy by closing loopholes, increasing accountability and eliminating waste.

Just a few of my bills this session:
• SB 152 Creative Industries – laying the foundation for job growth in the 5th largest employment sector in Colorado
• HB 1333: Green Jobs Training – getting access to those wanting to transition to the new energy jobs
• SB 171 Child Protection Ombudsman – protecting kids by creating an independent source to resolve complaints within child protective services
• HB 1166 Insurance Plain Language – requiring insurance policies to be written in 10th grade plain language
